Brace yourself East Coast

(picture from : http://ibnlive.in.com/photogallery/7742.html)

Just a short post today to say we're thinking about everybody on the east coast, which apparently includes us somewhat here in Columbus.
Take the warnings seriously folks, if you're told to leave...please leave. Come back when it is safe.
Take care of yourself and your neighbors to the extent that you can. Things like this make you put things in order, or at least they should.

On a crafty creative note, I hit an estate sale this weekend and got some really heavy desks for my sewing room, which meant that some of yesterday was spent tearing up the room......so today will be spent putting it all back together. I will post some videos or pics of before and after.
  Take care everyone!!

Sewing for weight loss..gain..loss...stop!!

So fall is here, it's cold outside and it's making me wonder if I should make a jacket.  Here is the last one I made...

this is where the sad part comes in...after finishing it I got to wear it a couple of times...and then I put on some lbs.

So now it just sits.. Oh how I envy women who don't have a constant struggle with their weight.
here are some dresses I made in that same time period:

They fit for  a minute also...but now they are useless to me.

So this brings me to a point...Should we stop...give up when something we have worked so hard at seems like it has been a waste of time.  It does get frustrating..it's not so hard when they are made larger and you drop some lbs...(which is a very exciting time all by itself lol) they can be taken in, or you can just reward yourself and make something new!!
But when you gain weight, it hits you in all kinds of different directions.  You feel defeated in every sense...all that time wasted making these clothes, and using your wonderful fabrics.  Not to mention how the weight gain itself affects your mentality.
But here's the thing...when I made these things...I learned something...either something about the fabrics, or the styling, or the fit....I enjoyed the time I spent at the machine.   I even get a small amount of happiness just looking at these pictures now, knowing I put them together and they fit me when I made them.  Fit is an achievement in itself, and because these fit me then..now I have the ability to make the next ones fit me at the size I am.
Would I be thrilled to be that size right now? Well.....ya!! lol, but I'm not, so that's it...onward and upward. (well, hopefully not lbs upward)  It's time to make something new...try a new pattern...learn a new technique...wear what I make for  a minute... or maybe longer...but I'll enjoy the journey and I'll enjoy the pictures I take a long time into the future.
What are your thoughts on the matter, how do you handle this situation....or are you one of those blessed few...

Crafty apps for android!

As I was surfing the net today, I used an app that I have found to be really useful, and thought I'd take just a second today to suggest it to all those folks out there that have a smart phone and are trying to make life a little more organized.

The app is called Evernote.  The exciting thing about this app is that it works between your at home computer and your phone.

An example of how great it is:  I love to sew, I search a lot of sites and read a lot of blogs. There are so many great ideas out there.  With evernote I can clip any page I am on and now it will be on my smart phone, I can file that under any topic I choose.

Now say I am shopping and I come across a great sale on fabric or any other things I might need, I can pop that page up on my phone and see just what I need to get.
I can see all the instructions and the pics.  It is terrific.

I can see so many uses for this....recipes....crafting...oh yes, I also have used it when I wanted to remember some things from Sallys beauty supply...just writing down a name of something is okay, but when you have a pic of the actual item it is so much easier to find it.

I'm back!!

Well folks,
it has been a long time since I made an entry....so today I start a new habit (hopefully lol)
It's not that I haven't been crafting...I have really.

The trouble with creating though, is everything takes learning....learn the machines learn the techniques, learn the fibers or fabrics you are using....therefore there are wadders, mistakes, time wasters lol,

But in the end there is success for those who are persistent. I am on my way there, it is a goal, I am persistent.  In the meantime, here are some pictures of past successes. I am hoping to start blogging at least a couple days a week with some kind of progress. I appreciate your patience and you taking the time to read. Have a great day and enjoy the pics and bookmark me please and come back to visit when you can.

A journey into cloth diapers

Well,
another victory as far as I am concerned. I purchased a snap press, for what I am not sure lol. But with the press I received a nice supply of baby diapering cotton.
So I thought I would attempt to construct a few.
As I was contemplating the thought a friend had a baby shower and was very interested in trying cloth with her first baby. So I figured I would try.
The pattern I used was a freebie on one of the cloth diapering web sites. I am not really sure which one at the moment because I downloaded quite a few and then chose the one I liked best, and then I changed it up a little too.
They went together very simply, I went to you-tube and watched a few different construction videos for pointers.
All in all it was a fun little adventure. I am far from baby baring years lol, but I may endeavor the feat again for the right people, or price lol.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the little video. Maybe you can even try it yourself
